Ramadan 2023- Believing in the Power of Sadaqa
Zakat and Sadaqa Fund is continuing its live transformative activities in 2023 across the country, ensuring your donations get to those who need them most. Global happenings in terms of political and economic turmoil suggests that Ramadan 2023 will not be easy especially to the needy ones. Locally, the reeling effect of the banking sector clean up in 2017, depreciation of the cedi currency, higher inflation, higher cost of living, and the recently proposed Domestic Debt Exchange Program by the government all points to the indication of financial crisis looming. Investors are losing profit on their investment and the value their assets are plummeting.
Just when we thought businesses are picking up from the covid- 19 pandemic, we are saddle with yet another financial uncertainty. This financial atmosphere does not auger well with the impending sacred month of devotion (Ramadan) particularly the needy ones among us.
At Zakat and Sadaqa Fund of Ghana, lessening the burden of the poor has always been our topmost priority. Through your generous donation, we reach out to the very last person on the needy spectrum. We support the needy with the basic essentials for a happy Ramadan. During the covid-19 pandemic, Zakat and Sadaqa Fund were able to support the needy ones to observe and live the month of Ramadan to its fullest through your regular donation of cash and kind. Your generous donation of any kind put a smile on the faces of the needy.
It is yet another season of Love, Care and Compassion for one another. Ramadan, the season of abundance of blessings and mercy is upon us. It is the period we forgo the world and focus on absolute submission to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. As Muslims, we forgo food and drinks as well as worldly pleasures to attain piety. Ramadan also provide us the unique opportunity to be grateful to Allah for given us abundance in provisions, for there are others who are less privileged.
We must strive during this month to become the best versions of ourselves in terms of righteous values and also engage in rituals such as observing the obligatory prayers on time and the recommended prayers regularly. Again, we need to inculcate the habit of reciting the Quran regularly, giving Sadaqa (charity) to the needy, listening to the exigencies of the Quran, engaging in a worthy voluntary activity within the community, feeding the needy, and many more.
Perhaps, one significant attribute of a believer is to be generous in the course of Allah. In the light of this, Islam enjoins us to share in our provisions with our brothers and sisters and neighbors. Accumulating a lot of wealth for one’s parochial interest without the interest of the less privilege is not a Muslim habit.
Zakat and Sadaqa Fund is appealing to you once again as individuals, businesses, corporate organizations and philanthropists to support us stretch a helping hand to the needy ones in the 16 Regions of Ghana. This year, the Fund target is to provide a family box of food suitable for both Suhoor and Iftar to over 100,000 household across the country. Provisions ranging from rice, cooking oil, mackerel, tomato, sugar, milk, milo, dates, tea bag, beans, spaghetti, spices and many more is to be distributed. This boxes of food will provide relief to thousands of families in Ghana during Ramadan. We are at the front line waiting for your kind donation for onward distribution to the needy.
We believe you share with us in the aspiration of alleviating the plight of the poor in Ghana by providing food to the less privilege homes.
