A nation can achieve rapid economic growth only with a healthy population. It, therefore, falls within the mandate of Zakat and Sadaqa Trust Fund to support research entities to provide important information about disease trends and risk factors, outcomes of treatment or public health interventions, functional abilities, patterns of care, and health care costs and use. At the granular level, the Zakat and Zakat Trust Fund provides financial assistance to the poor who need to access quality healthcare. This scheme provides financial assistance to Ghanaians from poor background to settle their medical bills. The Fund collaborates with the Social Welfare Department of some healthcare provider including Korle-bu and the 37 Military Hospital to recommend patients for support. Over the past years, the Fund has assisted needy applicants of various health condition to seek for treatment across the country.
